Gelcoats

VBR Gelcoats provide the protective and decorative skin that defines the look and  durability of composite parts. These highperformance gelcoats are formulated for  smooth flow, excellent coverage and strong adhesion to the underlying laminate,  helping manufacturers achieve premium surface finish with reduced rework.

  • Surface Protection & Aesthetics  – The gelcoat layer delivers longterm  resistance to UV, moisture, chemicals and abrasion, preserving gloss and colour  stability in outdoor and industrial environments. Optimised thixotropy supports even  film build on vertical surfaces, while low porosity and pinhole resistance reduce  finishing time and reject rates.
  • Fire-Retardant & speciality Grades – For railway and transport interiors, FR  gelcoats can be paired with compatible FST resins and cores to help systems meet EN  45545 and similar fire standards. Intumescent technology can further enhance fire  protection by forming an insulating char layer, reducing heat transfer, smoke  development and dripping during exposure. Specialty gelcoats are available for sanitary ware, marine, construction and industrial parts where chemical resistance and  long-term cleanliness are critical.
  • Process Versatility – These gelcoats are suitable for hand layup, spray  application, RTM and infusion moulding, supporting both prototype work and serial  production. Controlled gel time and hardness development help maintain tight cycle  times, good demoulding and robust performance in complex mould geometries. Mould Release
  • Mould Release Agents are designed to deliver clean, repeatable demoulding for  FRP, RTM, infusion and other composite processes. By minimising sticking and  surface defects, they help extend mould life, reduce downtime and improve the  overall economics of composite manufacturing.
  • Reliable Release Performance Advanced release chemistries form a  uniform, resilient film on the mould surface, allowing parts to separate cleanly with  minimal force. This reduces the risk of fibre tear, surface imprinting and microcracks on  highgloss or textured parts, while maintaining dimensional accuracy and detail  reproduction.
  • Longer Mould Life & Less Cleaning Using the right release system lowers  abrasion and chemical stress on moulds, extending tool life and preserving critical  surface quality. Lower buildup and easier cleaning between cycles can significantly cut  downtime, labour and solvent usage, supporting leaner, more sustainable production.
  • Application Flexibility Solutions are available for hand layup, spray, RTM  light, vacuum infusion and highfill FST systems used in rail and mass transit  applications. Depending on the process, users can choose between semipermanent  and conventional systems to balance ease of use, cycle count and surface finish  requirements.
